The fireworks display of the spring garden is past - the daffodils and tulips, the lush Spring foliage, the first flush of roses - what's next?
Let's face it, in the PNW, the best time to enjoy our climate, and our gardens, is the few precious weeks of summer. Many gardeners primarily shop the nurseries and plant in spring, so their gardens peak in spring.
Some plants peak in summer and simply are not available in spring - Cannas, Dahlias, and Salvias. Our new shipment of Salvias will be blooming brightly throughout the summer and into fall. Basil finally stops shivering in July and our new variegated version is equally at home in the border, in containers or in the veggie garden. And don't forget the Zonal Denials: Echeveria 'Black Prince' is the little black dress of the gardening world; this might be THE year to try a Brugmansia!
